Dont’a Hightower is slated for offseason shoulder surgery. (NFL Game Rewind)

New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum, according Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Playing “mostly with one arm,” as Rapoport detailed, Hightower played an integral part in New England’s Super Bowl victory Sunday night.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Alabama product’s fifth tackle of the 28-24 game arrived with a minute left in the fourth, and it halted Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch one yard from the end zone.

New England got the ball back on an interception one play later.

Hightower missed Week 5 and Week 6 due to a knee injury, then later missed Week 14 and Week 17 with the lingering shoulder injury. The 2012 first-round pick left in the second quarter of Week 22 as well, but he returned soon after to anchor the second level of the Patriots’ championship defense.
