The New England Patriots tendered three exclusive-rights free agents on Tuesday, but Brian Tyms was not one of them.
The organization re-signed the wide receiver on Wednesday, however, according to the NFL transaction wire.
The 26-year-old Tyms caught five passes for 82 yards and a touchdown over 11 games for the Patriots last season, after joining the 90-man roster for training camp.
A former Florida A&M Rattler, San Francisco 49er, Miami Dolphin and Cleveland Brown, the 6-foot-3, 204-pound Tyms is expected to battle for a spot on New England’s 53-man roster again in 2015. His deep speed and growing role on special teams figure to help him do so.
The Patriots also added to the receiver position as unresricted free agency opened Tuesday, signing another former Dolphin, Brandon Gibson, to a one-year deal.
