The New England Patriots signed free-agent wide receiver Kevin Dorsey on Wednesday, according to the NFL transaction wire.

Dorsey, 25, was a Green Bay Packers seventh-round pick out of Maryland in 2013.

The 6-foot-1, 207-pound wideout, who recorded a 4.48 40-yard dash, a 38-inch vertical and 130-inch broad jump at his Terrapins pro day, spent his rookie season on Green Bay’s injured reserve with a toe injury. Dorsey later played in three games for the Packers this past season, catching one pass for four yards while also notching two tackles on special teams.

He was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury in November, and later released by Green Bay in February.

The Patriots had Dorsey in for a visit two weeks ago, as Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post and The Baltimore Sun reported. He is the third receiver New England has signed since free agency opened Tuesday, joining Brian Tyms and Brandon Gibson.
