A day after New England Patriots representatives were on hand for the Minnesota and Virginia pro days, head coach Bill Belichick and director of player personnel Nick Caserio were on hand for Auburn’s, according to AUTigers.com’s Jason Caldwell.
Tuesday’s workouts at Auburn’s indoor facility included a 32 NFL teams and a total of 22 participants, with wideout Sammie Coates, center Reese Dismukes, defensive tackle Gabe Wright, running back Cameron Artis-Payne, quarterback-turned-cornerback Nick Marshall, corner Jonathon Mincy, tight end C.J. Uzomah and safety Jermaine Whitehead among the top prospects.
Coates, cast as a first- or second-round draft choice, posted a 41-inch vertical and 131-inch broad jump at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound target also ran a 6.98 three-cone and a 4.43 40-yard dash, which he elected to keep heading into his pro day workout.
Dismukes, Wright and Artis-Payne are projected to go in the middle rounds of the 2015 draft. And all three could present some positional intrigue for New England along the interior lines and in the backfield, respectively.
Marshall, Mincy, Uzomah and Whitehead are seen as potential day-three selections.
Another name to monitor as the draft nears is halfback Corey Grant, who reportedly clocked a 40-time under 4.3 seconds at the pro day.
