Jonas Gray will not be in uniform for Super Bowl XLIX.
The first-year New England Patriots running back is among the team’s official inactives for the second time in three weeks, after leading the team in rushing during the regular season and posting a 200-yard, four-touchdown performance in November.
Also inactive for the Patriots is fourth-round running back James White, wideouts Brian Tyms and Josh Boyce, guard Jordan Devey, defensive tackle Joe Vellano and sixth-round defensive end Zach Moore.
White and Devey last played in Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills, while Tyms and Boyce have both been healthy scratches for the last two postseason contests. And as for Vellano and Moore, the two defensive linemen have played in one playoff game combined.
Those personnel moves mean the Patriots will go with eight offensive linemen, with starting center Bryan Stork returning to the fold. Defensive tackle Chris Jones, who was a late out against the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship Game as well, will also be back.
As for New England’s 6:30 p.m. ET opponent at University of Phoenix Stadium, quarterback B.J. Daniels, wide receiver Kevin Norwood, offensive tackle Gary Gilliam, guard Keavon Milton, center Patrick Lewis and cornerback Marcus Burley are inactive for the Seahawks.
Pro Bowl defensive backs Richard Sherman (elbow), free safety Earl Thomas (shoulder) and strong safety Kam Chancellor (knee) are all active for Seattle, after being listed as probable on the final injury report of the year Friday.
