Free-agent long snapper Charley Hughlett will join the New England Patriots’ practice squad, according to his agent, Brett Tessler.

The move comes just three days after incumbent long snapper Danny Aiken short-hopped a delivery to punter Ryan Allen down in the end zone. But the team revealed in its injury report Wednesday afternoon that Aiken also suffered a concussion on Sunday.

Hughlett is not new to Foxborough. The 6-foot-4, 251-pound Central Florida product originally signed with the Patriots in the spring, and later re-signed to the practice squad in September after Aiken was waived during the 53-man roster cuts.

The 24-year-old Tampa, Fla., native has also been a member of the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars since entering the league as an undrafted rookie in 2012.
